Troop 12 MBC and Ski trip Info page
Merit badge college
is a way for your scout to earn 2 merit badges
in one day! But they need to de the prequisites in order to accomplish
this. Please see the brochure that the scout office mailed out (they have
extras at the scout office 523-3408) for what the prerequisites are. You
can get the merit badge books from the library if we have them and from
the scout office if we do not.
We hope to get the boys list of MB at the 1/15
meeting. Robert Mays will turn in the troop registration on 1/16!
(Robert I put my choices at the end of this
e-mail)
Cost is $10 scout $6 adult. This includes
lunch at the MU cafeteria.
Note to leaders - new meting location. We
still park in the lots on 3rd Ave, but now we met at the "twin towers"
cafeteria on 5th Ave between 18th and 19th streets.
Note to scouts- wear your class A, bring the
merit badge book, note book, paper, pencil or pen, any prerequisites that
you have done.

Ski
trip info:
For
the trip we need: troop 12 release form, snow shoe release form, rental
information and fees. New cost of ski trip is $45.09 - includes lift ticket,
rentals, lesson and a grab 'n Go lunch. I think that the adult leadership
needs to meet and see if we want to spend $12.09-15.09 of troop funds to buy
down the cost of the trip for scouts. I cannot condone spending troop funds
to buy down cost for siblings. I would be willing to consider buying down
the cost for adult leaders if a substantial majority of adults agree to it.
Please see separate e-mail. Also I was informed that if we have an excess of
adults above the 1 adult to 4 scouts ratio that they will not get the SMART
card rate. I am negotiating to get these the group rate.
Also
you will need $ for a road meal (fast food) for Dinner on Saturday and
Sunday.
Aside - right now I think that
Snow Shoe has 7 trails open. we need to watch this - if the situation
persists we can either: (a) cancel trip (b) just go to AFC and hang out
there Saturday night and Sunday.

I need to know ASAP:
- Who is coming
- for those skiing - name, age, sex, height,
weight, shoe size, skier type (beginner, intermediate, expert), preferred
ski lenght if known
- I need to know this info yesterday.
But what about snow boarding? If you snow
board and have your own equipment, this is not an issue. You cannot learn
to snow board in one day (you can learn to ski (in a fashion) in one day.
So if you have never boarded before - then you will either ski or not go.
If you can board but do not have equipment then this is a problem - they
put a $400(+) hold on my card for each board rented until it is returned.
I am not a fan of this. I have done this in the past. if the board is
stolen/damaged (unlikely event) then you will owe me the fee.
