ASM Anderson is organizing a high adventure trip for this coming summer in the Adirondacks in upper state New York.  The trek center is based out of Camp Massawepie (Otetiana Council, Rochester, NY).  We are looking at a combination canoeing/hiking adventure, but that is still open for discussion as we can do an all canoeing or all hiking adventure as well.  We are looking at the week of July 11-17 .  The cost of the trek is $295 for each scout/leader.  Scouts must be at least age 13 by January 1, 2005 and 1st class rank.  You will be required to pass the BSA swim test.  I am hoping we can do this before we depart.  The trip we are looking at will require some extreme hiking requirements (High Peaks region) so we will be doing some training in the Spring and early summer.  The canoeing portion is remote (St Regis area).  All will be a wilderness camping experience. We will be giving preference to the older scouts by rank as the groups are limited in numbers.

Older scouts (First Class, Life, Star, Eagle - we are doing this for you. Are you interested? We have reserved two trips (i.e. we will be split into two groups one of 7 and the other of 11). Those who registered with Mr. Anderson have "first dibs" on these slots. This should be a great trip.

This is who is registered:  (white - Massawepie treck / yellow - high peaks treck)

SCOUTS:
Rob A.        Spencer S.               Justin B.           Joe O        Ryan L.
Woody L.        Art R.            Christian R.

ADULT LEADERS
Kurt A. - high peaks trip
Jeff S. - Massawapie trip - aka  "not so high peaks"
Rodger B. - Massawapie trip
Jeff L. & Jeff O - high peaks trip
Art R., Greg P- Massawapie tirp

We have space for 2 more - contact Mr. Anderson if you are interested.

We need commitments. Fee $285 for camp before due date of 5/29 - by meeting of 5/9 would be ideal. Camper ships are available through the troop from Mr. Anderson or Mr. Maniskas.  Cost of Getting there and back? Parents: All scouts and leaders need a new class III form filled out by a doctor. In addition there is a medical form for what prescription and nonprescription meds that your scout can be given (NY State law) and camp permission slip (not to mention the troop 12 permission slip).

In addition you  MUST pass a BSA swim test. It is better if we do it here as it will be harder there. We must get in shape. You will need a back pack/sleeping bag/ ground roll and clothes. Full list to follow. You MUST pass a BSA canoe test. We will need to practice. We will do a shake down weekend campout (one night) before we leave.

There is a lot to do - lets get cracking!
