This is the new 20" f5.6 Obsession telescope. Justin and I were looking at Saturn. Earlier views of M57 and M15 were spectacular. The photo was taken on the driveway just prior to when the clouds began to roll in.
Yes its so easy to use that Brittany has no trouble keeping Saturn in view.
Its hard to get an idea of how big this thing realy is. But the views, even from our driveway were incredible. M15 showed a central luminosity surrounded by a granular smattering of stars – and that was at low power. At high power it almost looked touchable. M57, the ring nebula appeared big and bright and this was at the end of twilight. When the sky was still blue I panned the sky and saw countless stars – before it got dark. Looking for Alberio, before the Telrad (finder device) was fully aligned I saw a pair of stars that I thought was Alberio and thought, oh that’s not that bright, then I realized I was looking at some random pair of stars. You see those with an Obsession. Jupiter and Saturn were big and bright. Aperture wins.
Here it is in "daylight" napping in the garage.
Notice the tool less collimation of the secondary, a new feature on the Obsession. The bag is a dust cover for the secondary. The bag is courtesy of a friendly bartender at Calamity Café in Huntington, West Virginia.
