Larry had a Mythology class from Marshall University scheduled to look at constellations at the dome. So in spite of the gibbous moon I thought that I'd show up and set up the video set up. I've been kicking arroung the idea that ith might be a good addition to our public "star gazes". Using the SAC IV in the 10" f5.6 with a (dusty) Meade "shorty" 2x barlow, I shot Saturn. The Clear Sky Clock  was estimating poor seeing and it was right on the money. I took a couple of shot 10 second runs of Saturn before the class got there. I should have imaged longer. But on 2-8-03 I'd filled the hard driver and crashed the computer because of low memory so I was "gun shy".

Astrovideo chose the "10 sharpest frames". I added these with Astrovideo.

Then I Same data processed as B&W in Registax with wavelet

After the crowd left and before the chill entered my fingers, I shot some DSO's with the Stellacam EX using a "sense up of 128x and gain on manual maximum. Mostly messier clusters in Monocerous and Canis Major as well as the Orion nebula.

  M47

(though its stars are brighter then those of M46 they are more separated and the cluster seems less rich)

M46, I like an open star cluster with it's own Planetary Nebula

(Who cares if they say its not part of the cluster, its a nice visual effect. It was interesting that M46 was not seen in the 50mm finder with the gibbous moon yet in the Stellacam it appeared to be a nich richer and denser cluster. A gem not apparent in the finder.)
