Eagle project resources - potential project sources for Eagle projects:
What follows is (A) a list of places that the Scout Council says might be a good source of an eagle project. (b) a link to a web page that lists one years worth of eagle projects done at another council (c) a list of eagle projects done by T12 that I am aware of.
City Mission:
- Organize a collection drive for: clothes, blankets, presents (Christmas time), etc.

Huntington Museum of Art:
- trail work on trails, building steps for trails, working on drainage

Ronald McDonald House: (T12 has done 2 projects here)
- Contact director for projects (landscaping, build play ground, food collection drive, drive to collect supplies needed to run the house, etc.

Habitat for Humanity: (T12 has done 1 project here)
- contact director for projects (ala Art Roa’s build a shed project – these are good as HFH often has funds to purchase needed supplies and has tools)

Green Bottom preserve (out route 2 to the north) ;
- talk to Kim Snow 743-5012 for projects (conservation area)
- The Green Bottom Wildlife Management Area is in District 5 (#40). The district 5 number is 675-0871 but the scout office says to call Kim Snow at the above number
West Virginia Conservation Agency: (he has helped on 1 T12 Eagle project at beech Fork lake SP and was about to provide Gov't funding of the project)

Get a project from the Ranger at Beach Fork Lake State Park: (4 T12 scouts have done projects at this park!)

2009:
T 12 Eagle 60: Rob Anderson - Little Victories - painting building used to hold sick animals or nursing mothers to sequester them from other dogs, moving gravel, installing fencing ,other tasks - project complete (Robert Mays was T 12 liaison)
T 12 Eagle 61: Jacob Smith - Kanawha Trace - Jacob built a bridge on the KT. Funding came from the KT grant that the council had. He was helped by ranger Frank and Charlie Dundas.
Matt Peyton - Beech Fork Lake SP - Erosion control work including smoothing riles, laying matting, and seeding slope - in progress (Patrick Peyton is the T 12 liaison) Exceptional help was given by Mark Buchanan of the WV Conservation Agency who provided technical
2008:
T 12 Eagle 58: Adam Smith - Animal Shelter in Wayne County - construct PVC pipe frames to support plywood dog bed stands and install them at the animal shelter (Michael Mayes was T12 Liaison)
T 12 Eagle 59: Max Wilson - built handicap access ramp at "Harmony House" (Community Center), organize fund raiser to purchase materials (Rick Wilson was T12 Liaison) Exceptional Technical assistance was provided by Mark Springer's father in law - who is a member of the community service group "Charlie's Boys" which is based out of First Presbyterian Church who is the sponsor of BAS T12.
2007:
T 12 Eagle 54: Christian Roa - Repair historic Cabin at Beech Fork Lake State Park (Art Roa was T12 Liaison) Christian was assisted by a man who had known the family who had lived in the cabin being restored.
T 12 Eagle 55: Ryan Lavalley - Design and build 2 sets of steps and connect them with a gravel path to allow spectator access to the Cross Country Spectator area in time for State Meet (Jeff Lavalley was T12 Liaison)
T 12 Eagle 56: Justin Blake - Construct two "view Paths" on the "overlook trail" at Beech Fork State Park - involved much brush cutting, tree cutting, and removing of same from two steep slopes (Rodger Blake was T12 Liaison) Exceptional help was given by Frank Greer, the BSA ranger, with assistance in tree cutting and technical advice.
T 12 Eagle 57: Spencer Smith - Work at Little Victories Animal Shelter - Help build and paint 11 dog houses (each was 8'x4'x8' and sat on an 8'x8' platform), move gravel into 11 enclosures, take measures to prevent dogs from digging under the fences, etc. (Jeff Smith was T12 Liaison)
2006:
T 12 Eagle 53: Art Roa - build a tool shed/out building in the back yard of a "Habitat for Humanity" house (Art Roa (Sr) was T12 Liaison)
2005:
T 12 Eagle 51: Eric Springer - tree planting and other work done at Rotary park (Mark Springer was T12 Liaison)
T 12 Eagle 52: Logan Wills - Construct flower bed and other landscaping at his former school in Ohio
2004:
T 12 Eagle 50: Patrick Miller - Paint concession building (2 stories one room per floor) and benches at league 6 filed, repair netting on batting cage league 6 field, Destroy and remove old dugouts at league 6 field, move dirt and restore pitchers mound and base lines of the field at the Elementary School on 5th Ave.
T 12 Eagle 49: Kurt Jung - Build bridge across Lost trail at Beech Fork Lake State Park, transport material to the site, etc. (Tom Jung was T12 Liaison)
T 12 Eagle 48: Nate "merit badge" May - Film and record a DVD to be used to orient new client families staying at the Ronald McDonald House. This film detailed the rules, and provided a video introduction to the facility and the services that it offered. This was done for our local Ronald McDonald House.
